Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph. 2 to 4 inches of snow accumulation expected... Tonight, cloudy with light snow and a low of 25 degrees. West wind 10 mph... Tomorrow, cloudy with a chance of flurries and a high of 29 degrees. West wind 15 mph... Tomorrow night, partly cloudy with a low of 19 degrees. West wind 15 mph... And for Friday, partly cloudy with a chance of flurries and a high of 37 degrees. South wind 15 to 25 mph.

Good Wednesday morning (from Minnesota, where your friendly local meteorologist is currently stranded)! Snow continues to overspread central Illinois and will continue through much of the day. Of note - air & ground temperatures will remain near or above freezing for much of the event, so snow will certainly melt a bit as it falls. Still, we're expecting the heavier snowfall rates later this morning to compensate for the melting and allow an accumulation of roughly 2" to 4". This is mostly going to be confined to grassy surfaces. Above-freezing pavement temperatures and warmer air temperatures are likely going to keep our roads mostly passable, generally wet and/or slushy depending on how heavy snowfall rates become. This won't grind our city to a halt, and if the forecast doesn't bring you joy, it should be great packing snow for making snowballs to throw at your friendly local meteorologist once he returns to town, hopefully sometime today.
